Volunteering with Singapore Aftercare Association (SACA)

Individual Volunteering Opportunities

We are constantly looking for individual volunteers to join us in the Volunteer After-Care Programme (VAP). The VAP was jointly developed with the Prisons Department and launched in 1997 to provide befriending services and sustained aftercare support to discharged offenders.

Corporate Volunteering Opportunities

Apart from individual volunteering opportunities, SACA welcomes corporate entities that may be keen to explore partnering us in one or more of the following ways:

  • Fundraising / Donation
  • Event Sponsorship
  • Befriending clients and their families
  • Conducting workshops
  • and more...

Your involvement with SACA would undoubtedly be a strong indication of society’s willingness to accept and help facilitate the reintegration efforts of these ex-offenders and their families.

To date, SACA has had the privilege of working with financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase Bank and Maybank on their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. The activities jointly undertaken include soccer and bowling tournaments, dragon boating, and a Children’s Holiday Programme at Snow City. We look forward to more of such partnerships!

Testimony:

[Extracted from TODAY Newspaper dated 27 Sept 2004] Ms Sovinder Kaur, a social worker with SANA shared that one of her most memorable experiences was when she got together a group of ex-inmates to form a netball team. She said: "I accepted the challenge as I felt it would be fun. At the same time, I would be able to get the message across that there was more to life than just drugs. Sure enough, when I met the girls, they were all just as excited to learn, contribute and participate." And this has proved to be most rewarding for Ms Kaur and she hopes that more people can share her joy. She said: "I'm sure that there are many talented people out there who want to help, but do not know how. Just feel free to call the respective organizations to render your talents."
