Inmates Recognised at May Day Awards
THE May Day Model Partnership Award '09 emphasised on the tripartite partnerships during the economic downturn.
Two types of awards were given this year: Institutional and Individual awards.
The Institutional award recognises partnerships between the management, union, workers and government in helping to cut cost, save jobs and build new capabilities through re-skilling and upgrading.
The Individual award highlights partnerships between the worker and those who help him or her gain new skills, acquire a new job or re-enter the workforce.
SCORE case manager, Mr Nathan Arputhasamy, received an award, jointly with Toh Kim Bock Contractor Pte Ltd for helping inmates stabilise in their jobs.
Four ex-offenders, together with their supervisors and management who helped them re-enter the workforce, also received awards.
This is testimony that ex-offenders, when given second chances in the form of jobs, can excel and do well at work.
One proud recipient is Mr Louis Ang, whose story was screened during the awards ceremony.
SCORE and Prisons are proud of the award recipients and wish them all the best.
